One cannot adjust the timing on an LT1 or LT4. The timing is set by the Optispark in conjunction with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The Optispark distributor HAS to be aligned perfectly to work. Follow all of your spark plug wires (perhaps have a friend help with this) from the distributor to the individual spark plugs.I want something 10 years from now I can get parts for. i know i'll be able to get an optispark because they unfortunetely can't delete them from existance, but Delteq could disappear with thier patented black box and we all be out the $400+. There is one thing that the LT1/LT4 engines with the vented Optispark need and that is a clear functioning vacuum line. I lost a low mile GM (Delphi) Optispark due to the filter being clogged up and not allowing the distributor to vent properly. A word of warning to those with this engine; periodically check to be sure the vacuum line is ...On the optispark there should be a nipple on the cap as well as on the body of the distributor. Hook the harness up there then go up top and connect the hose that does not have the valve on it to the intake elbow. The other hose needs to be connected to your intake manifold vacuum.
